After the Firenza production came to a finish, Vauxhall were left with 197 spare nosecones and sets of alloy wheels, so they made a short production run of a car based on the Vauxhall Magnum estate and called it the Sports Hatch.
These were all sent to dealers with the intention that they would be used to promote the brand and attract attention, and to that end they were all painted in a special colour called “Extra Dark Wine”, often confused with black. To attract further attention, bumpers and window frames were painted bright red, two red stripes ran along the side of the car, and the interior featured bright red carpets and bold red plaid inserts in the seats and trim cards.
The only modification to this car from standard is the fitting of a “roller blind” to cover the rear compartment, but this is easily removable if required.
